I am going to have to start this Critique out with the words that first came to mind when I seen this image; WOW..!

The tones of this image is very soft, the softness of the subject skin tones to the the soft shadows, the soft curves of the subject, to the soft background. All playing a major role in the mood of this image.

The lighting draws the viewers eyes to the subject face and the highlight of the saddened face is reinforced with the tears on the cheek.

The crop of this image if you will is perfect, when I looked at it the first time, I thought a little tighter crop to the left might make this image stronger, the more I looked at it, I thought, No, you possibly loose some of the highlights in the hair, they too add to the dramatic scene of this image, the hair larger background on the the subjects backside also adds a sense of balance to the overall image.

This is a true master piece, with a lot of artistic vision and execution of that vision. Keep up the amazing work.

There's something I really like about IsaiahS's artwork and that is how realistic they are. Not in the way that they look like photographs because they don't, due to his style. He draws them out of his mind and they do not look like drawings of people he created, but drawings of people one could easily run into on the street. He has no formulaic way of forming the features. Each portrait subject looks as glaringly different from the next as real life people do. Their faces tell stories, thousands of emotions behind those eyes like they are fully realized people, like each subject is not a doodle but has a history, hopes and dreams and flaws.

This portrait seems almost too private, like I'm witnessing a very private moment.

Do you use a different colored paper other than white to do you drawings? I like the sepia tinge that always accompanies these, but I'm always curious at what you use to make it that.
